Where it came from: Dana B. Myers, a former music industry exec, and her husband, Charlie, came up with the concept for Booty Parlor four years ago and believed in it so much, they quit their jobs to make it a reality. Their goal was to create a fun, fresh line of sexy products that both women and men would feel comfortable shopping for. Myers says, “Booty Parlor is completely opposite from a sex store. If the product makes the woman go, ‘Eww,’ we don’t carry it or create it.” In addition to online sales, they’ve forged partnerships with Victoria’s Secret and hip hotels like the Hard Rock and the Mondrian, where amorous couples can have Booty Parlor treats delivered to their room. And following the Tupperware model, enterprising “Booticians” can host Booty Parlor parties for a commission and discounted product.
What it’s all about: Myers wanted to make shopping for “bedroom accessories” fun, not intimidating, and offer them in a non-sleazy setting more like a cosmetics counter than a triple-X shop. Her brand is all about sexy products that boost a woman’s self-confidence and inspire her to create sexy experiences, both inside and outside the bedroom. From chocolate body “paint” to pheromone-infused firming creams to delicious body toppings, all of Booty Parlor’s products are sexy yet playful and dressed in designer packaging that’s made them an instant hit with celebrities. It didn’t hurt that Dana’s previous career in the music biz made it easier for her to network with the stars.
